Event Details

The 'Last Thursday Group' is a networking group aimed at meeting and discussing issues involved in the provision of websites and the services supporting websites. With lots of Beer and Content Management thrown in. This has been successful in New York City and San Francisco so we're going to try it out in Dallas-Ft. Worth.

The main aims of the group are to:
- drink beer together once a month
- foster interesting discussions
- meet interesting people

This inaugural meeting was held in July. We got a good turnout so we're going to make it a monthly thing on the last Thursday of every month.

There aren't many rules:
- no hard selling or spam
- no job postings or shifty recruitment activities

NEXT MEETING: Thursday, February 24, 2011:

"Django is not a CMS", David Gouldin. Come learn about this super-productive web application framework. Django is not a full-fledged CMS. Instead, it is a framework for building web applications. Often, when solutions are built on top of a CMS the goal is to save time, but we end up fighting the development model or simply pushing the bounds of what the CMS is meant to do. Django is an object-oriented framework that is highly-productive and fun to use. When you're building a content-centric app, but you need more flexibility than what a more packaged CMS can provide, Django is often a great place to start. Come join the discussion to find out why.
